About the Scholarship?
The Dr Mattie Moss Clark Scholarship is given in her memory each year at the Dr. ‘Dorinda Clark Cole’s Singers and Musicians Conference & Health fair, sponsored by local Tampa Bay citizens and hosted by Dr. ‘Dorinda Clark Cole. The Scholarship continues the legacy of Dr.Mattie Moss Clark who was an American Gospel Choir Director and the mother of The Clark Sisters, a world-renowned gospel vocal group. Dr. Moss-Clark is nationally known throughout the Church of God in Christ and the Christian community-at-large for creating the three-part harmony, a technique which is prevalent among gospel choirs today.
Why should you apply for the Scholarship?
If you are a high school senior, who is an artist, musician and/or actor and interested in pursuing a college degree, you may qualify for one of the Dr. Mattie Moss Clark Scholarships. The scholarship is available for students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in art, music or theatre in the Tampa Bay Area and have attended high school successfully. A planned college major in the arts is not a pre-requisite to apply for this scholarship.
How do I apply for the scholarship?
Interested parties should complete the application on or before April 2nd. As requested in the application, all students must: 1) complete the application, 2) submit a high school transcript
3) two letters or recommendation and 4) an essay describing how this scholarship will enable you to share in keeping and continuing Dr. Mattie Moss Clark’s legacy. How do I receive recognition of the award?
Students who are favorably considered for this award will be invited to attend the Dr. ‘Dorinda Clark Cole Singers and Musicians Conference & Health Fair on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 7:00 pm. Parents, other family members and friends are encouraged to attend. The award will be presented by Dr. Samuel Lamar Wright, Sr., Scholarship Coordinator, and photos will be taken with the Clark Sisters and Mr. Steve Marshall, Conference Coordinator.
How do I receive the scholarship funds?
Upon enrolling in the higher educational institution of your choice, you must write to the Conference Coordinator and attach a copy of your official college schedule. Once this information is received and confirmed, the Conference Coordinator will send you a check to the address indicated for your use in the first semester of college. Please remit all information to Regina Lock-Depass at P. O. Box 290415 Tampa Fl. 33687.
